Small farm grants open

APPLICATIONS are now open for farmers, community and industry groups in the South West to apply for grants up to $100,000 to protect and improve the condition of their properties and reserves.

Forrest MHR Nola Marino is calling for applications from farmers and community and industry groups for the Smart Farms Small Grants program, through the National Landcare Program, which opened last week.

The program provides grants of between $5000 and $100,000 to develop and extend new tools, methods and technology.

Mrs Marino said the aim of the program was for landcarers to protect and improve the condition of soil, vegetation, biodiversity and support agricultural systems to adapt to change.
