Rural Road and Safety Month

This morning I took the pledge to road safety with Russell White, the CEO and Founder of the Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF).

This month is Rural Road Safety Month. Rural road crashes account for more than 65% of the Australian road toll, and the rate of serious road-related injury in rural areas is nearly twice that of those in major cities. If you ask me, that figure is too high.

We are all responsible for road safety. Always make sure you are fit to drive, stay focused on the road and drive to suit the conditions.

Given the number of road deaths in our part of the world recently, this is a timely reminder to take care on our roads. I will be sharing information and resources this month from a number of organisations including the ARSF as a reminder to choose road safety.
