What is Australia’s’ most difficult to recycle product? Nominate your suggestion for inclusion on the Minister for Environments national Product Stewardship Priority List.
Federal Member for Forrest Nola Marino MP said the Federal Government wants to hear from all levels of government, academia, peak bodies, designers, manufacturers, importers, distributers, recyclers and consumers in the South West with their ideas.
“Nominations will help drive industry led schemes to make sure less products and materials end up in landfill. It calls out products and industries that need to take greater action.
“It is not good enough to design a product without reducing waste during its manufacture, as well as addressing the recycling options at the end of its life or without considering the recycled materials that can be used in its remanufacture.”
The Minister’s Priority List identifies the products and materials considered to be most in need of a product stewardship approach. The list includes reasons a product has been identified, recommended actions and timeframes for action. It is reviewed every 12 months and the Minister may edit the list to remove products, identify further actions, and add new products. This may include the Minister making a decision to implement regulatory measures where adequate industry action has not been taken.
