New services for families

Relationships Australia WA Busselton launched on Wednesday, and will begin offering residents access to a range of specialist mental health services.

Established with the support of Forrest MHR Nola Marino, through the Federal Government’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, the office incorporates a headspace premises to provide specialist early intervention mental health and wellbeing services for young people aged 12 to 25.

Relationships Australia WA chief executive Terri Reilly said she expected a large uptake of the service, given the success of headspace in Bunbury, which had supported more than 3000 young people in the South West since opening in 2013.

4families, a Relationships Australia program for families, couples and individuals, will continue to operate from the new office.

“Anyone living in the region … can access counselling, homebased family support, support for parents and grandparents, as well as workshops and seminars,” Ms Reilly said.

Community and members from the Undalup Association and South West Counselling, among others attended the launch.
