Marino to keep Chief Whip role

Forrest MHR Nola Marino will continue in her role as Liberal Party Chief Whip in the aftermath of the leadership spill on Friday.

Former Treasurer Scott Morrison replaced Malcolm Turnbull as the Prime Minister after he defeated Peter Dutton 45 votes to 40.

A spokesman for Mrs Marino’s office said yesterday that she would would continue to manage the role to the best of her abilities.

“Nola isn’t going anywhere and she will stay in the role for the foreseeable future,” he said.

Mrs Marino was named as the Chief Whip in 2015 and was the first woman to hold the title.

She has been Forrest MHR since 2007.
