Marino secures funding for chaplains to boost student wellbeing

Member for Forrest Nola Marino has secured the future of school chaplains in the South West.

Mrs Marino who lobbied to continue the National School Chaplaincy Programme, which had its funding expired by the end of the year, said chaplains provide vital pastoral care services to thousands of students and school communities across Australia.

“School chaplains do valuable work across the South West,” Mrs Marino said.

“There are 29 South West schools that’ll benefit from this funding boost so that chaplains can continue their vital role supporting the health and wellbeing of young people.

“I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact the National School Chaplaincy Programme has in the South West and the strong community support behind it.

“This measure is part of The Turnbull Government’s guarantee of the essential services Australians rely on like the school chaplains programme.”
