Jobactive: Getting more people into work than ever before

Member for Forrest Nola Marino said the Turnbull Government continues to meet its commitment of helping more people into work with the milestone of one million placements under the jobactive employment program reached today.

The jobactive program connects job seekers with employers and is delivered by a network of jobactive providers in more than 1,700 locations across Australia.

“Jobs growth in 2017 was the best year on record,” Mrs Marino said.

“That growth is continuing into this year with the number of jobs in Australia increasing for a 17th straight month in February — the longest consecutive run of jobs growth ever.”

These record jobs growth figures show the Turnbull Government is delivering on our promise to create the right economic settings for job creation, and the jobactive program is helping unemployed people get into one of those job opportunities.

Mrs Marino said that today’s milestone is clear evidence that the Government’s employment policies are working in the South West with over 6,100 local placements.

“Reaching one million job placements under jobactive shows that we are succeeding in our goal to get more Australians than ever before into work,” Mrs Marino said.

“The jobactive program is making a real difference to the lives of many South West people by helping them to get a foot in the door and back into work.

“I encourage South West businesses who is not registered with a jobactive provider to go and see them — to find out how they can get the right employee for their business and give someone an opportunity.”
