Have you been a victim of image-based abuse?

Member for Forrest Nola Marino is encouraging people who have been or are experiencing image-based abuse to report it on the new Image-based Abuse Portal.

The portal provides practical support for Australians who have had their intimate images or videos shared without their consent.

“The portal provides victims of revenge porn an avenue to report it,” Mrs Marino said.

“It helps victims regain control by providing helpful resources, a reporting tool and referrals to support services as well as legal options.

“Advice on how to manage the impact of image-based abuse is also provided on the portal.”

Mrs Marino, who has delivered many cyber safety presentations, said when people report image-based abuse, the Office of the eSafety Commissioner will work with social media services, websites and search engines to help remove the material.

“The portal is currently being piloted before formally launching next year,” Mrs Marino said.

“The pilot will allow the eSafety Commissioner’s office to better understand the volume and type of reports coming in as well as refine and build on the office’s processes.”
