Green Light for Harvey Community and Sports Centre

Sports fans in Harvey can celebrate this week following the announcement of funding for the Harvey Community and Sporting Facility project under the Coalition Government’s Building Better Regions Fund.

Member for Forrest Nola Marino said the Coalition Government will deliver $626,000 towards the construction of a brand new multi-purpose community and sports facility.

“This is wonderful news for the Harvey community. We have been working to deliver this project for many years and this funding is the final piece in the puzzle,” Ms Marino said.

“The new facilities will include a new 355 square meter multi-purpose community and sporting centre, a large social room, kitchen/kiosk facilities, bathrooms, change rooms and administration rooms.

“This project is also expected to create six jobs during construction and two ongoing jobs in the community – which is a big boost for the local economy.”

Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government John McVeigh said the project will deliver significant economic and social benefits to the community.

“Under round two of the Building Better Regions Fund – Infrastructure Projects stream, the Coalition Government is investing well over $200 million in 136 projects with a total project value of $459 million,” Dr McVeigh said.

“This means, in each successful community much anticipated local projects are receiving the funds needed to take a big idea and make it a reality.

“It’s all part of the Coalition Government’s plan to create more jobs, drive economic growth and build stronger regional communities across Australia.

In total the second round of the Building Better Regions Fund, which includes the Community Investment stream and the Infrastructure Projects stream, is expected to create up to 10,000 jobs from over 240 projects.
