Fundraiser at Koolambidi Woola youth precinct raises funds for Endometriosis Australia

There was a splash of yellow at the Koolambidi Woola youth precinct on Thursday afternoon, all for a good cause.

Forrest MHR Nola Marino hosted a Sundowner for Endo Warriors last week as part of Endometriosis awareness month.

The event raised funds for Endometriosis Australia and its support of research into the condition, which impacts one in seven women. It is not currently known what causes endometriosis to develop.

Attendees were asked to wear something yellow and were treated to a variety of tasty food options.

Ms Marino is part of the Parliamentary Friends of Endometriosis Awareness Group, with members of her own family impacted by the condition.

Speaking in Federal Parliament last month, Ms Marino thanked the people and organisations who work in the field of endometriosis, which is now subject to a national action plan.

“Women have historically waited six and a half or more years for a diagnosis,” she said.

Ms Marino encouraged women with the condition to sign up for the Australian National Endometriosis Clinical and Scientific Trials Registry.

“You could help lead to a breakthrough to improve the understanding and, hopefully, one day lead to a cure,” she said.
