Free vaccine

FORREST MHR Nola Marino has announced a free whooping cough vaccine for pregnant women in the South West.

Mrs Marino said the Federal Government had provided $39.5 million which would mean the vaccine was added to the National Immunisation Program.

“Whooping cough is a terrible disease that can cause lifethreatening complications, including pneumonia or brain damage.

Babies in their first six months of life are most at risk,” she said.

The funding follows a recent spike in the number of reports of the disease in the Bunbury area.
