Export Awards showcase South West business

A South West business is a finalist in the 55th Australian Export Awards, recognising success in putting Australian innovation and expertise on a global stage.

Bunbury’s Kwik-Zip Spacers, a manufacturing business, is in the running to win the Small Business category announced at the ceremony in Canberra on December 5.

Mrs Marino said the awards celebrate the international success of local companies, recognising their export achievements and contribution to Australia’s economic prosperity.

“I am delighted that Kwik-Zip Spacers is one of 77 finalists in the running for an award,” Mrs Marino said.

“More than a third of this year’s finalists are classified as small businesses, with 20 or fewer staff, and for 59 per cent of finalists, exports comprised more than half their revenue.

“Together, they generated more than $3.9 billion in export sales in 2016–17 and employed more than 31,000 people.

“Businesses like these represent the very best Australia has to offer – from small, family-owned businesses to listed corporations, they are making a real contribution.”

Mrs Marino said the Turnbull Government recognises creating new and significant export opportunities for Australian businesses means more exports and jobs.

“The Turnbull Government is pursuing the most ambitious trade agenda in Australia’s history to open up more business opportunities for businesses like Kwik-Zip Spacers.”
