Brunswick NBN service now active

THE switch has been flicked on the National Broadband Network in Brunswick.

About 400 homes and businesses across the town can now place an order for a plan on the NBN through their preferred phone and internet provider.

They join about 800,000 homes and businesses across WA already able to access the network and enjoy the benefits of faster broadband internet.

“People living in parts of Brunswick can now connect to a plan over the NBN access network, which is great news for local households and businesses,” head of NBN local Western Australia, Rachael McIntyre said.

“For the first time local residents also have a choice of speeds when selecting a broadband package.”

Ms McIntyre said people should ask their phone and internet provider about the actual speeds they could expect to experience when they switch to a NBN plan over the network.

“It’s important to remember that making the switch is not automatic,” she said.

“To continue using your landline and internet services, you’ll need to contact your preferred phone and internet provider to place an order.”

Forrest MHR Nola Marino welcomed the arrival of the NBN in Brunswick, “The NBN will provide people and businesses in Brunswick with faster internet,” she said.

“The development of digital technologies has reduced business costs, changed how our children learn and created more ways to engage socially.

“I encourage people and businesses to make use of the new technology immediately.”
