Shadow treasurer in the South West

Joe Hockey speaking to a captivated audience in Bunbury last night.

Shadow treasurer Joe Hockey came down the Forrest Highway to the seat of Forrest last night as part of his two week tour of regional areas throughout Australia.

Mr Hockey was the special guest at a Bunbury function of about 60 people who were given an insight into the Coalition’s economic policy.

The Member for North Sydney – who was also Small Business and Tourism Minister in the Howard Government – outlined plans that would be put into action by a Coalition government.

Mr Hockey also shared stories of personal moments from his life, including working in his father’s small business, which had shaped his life and views of how Government should help the business community.

Federal Member for Forrest Nola Marino introduced Mr Hockey as being a key member of the Coalition who had never lost the human touch with everyday Australians.

“I am really delighted to have Joe here for the second time since I’ve been elected,” Mrs Marino said.

“It’s important that people like Joe hear first hand about our region and what affects our lives so he can take those things into account.”

Mr Hockey described Mrs Marino as being a fierce advocate for the South West.
