Frailty test available SOUTH West residents aged 65 and over are encouraged to take part in an online test developed as part of a national study that could help them maintain their independence and improve their health.
Forrest MHR Nola Marino said the FRAIL test was called the ‘canary in the coal mine’ of ageing, as it revealed whether people were more at risk of frailty.
Frailty could include deteriorating health, more susceptibility to falls and even premature death, Mrs Marino said.
The test was developed as part of a Federally-funded national study of the condition conducted by aged care organisation Benetas.
The test is available through the Positive Ageing Resource Centre website parc.net.au.
The screening tool at parc.net.au complements the individual screening and online support available on the My Aged Care website myagedcare.gov.au
