Celebrating veterans in the workplace

Member for Forrest Nola Marino is calling on local businesses to acknowledge the contribution of veterans in their workplace by nominating for the Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Employment Awards.

Nominations for the inaugural Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Employment Awards close on December 22.

Mrs Marino said the awards had been established to recognise achievements of Australian organisations that were employing veterans and spouses of Australian Defence Force (ADF) members.

The awards will also recognise veterans who are making a significant contribution to their workplace.

“During their service, ADF personnel gain skills and experience that are valuable in the modern workplace,” Mrs Marino said.

“There are many South West businesses that employ veterans. I encourage them to nominate for the Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Employment Awards.

“The Government has also established an Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) on Veterans’ Employment comprising representatives of the Australian business community to provide guidance on improving veterans’ employment.
