A little about Nola

 

Nola Marino was elected into Federal Parliament as the Federal Member for the seat of Forrest on November 24, 2007.

 

She is a passionate advocate of the South West of WA, providing a strong voice on issues affecting regional development, small business, industry and agriculture.

 

Nola is a member of the House of Representatives’ Standing Committee on Climate Change, Environment and the Arts and the Joint Select Committee on Cyber-Safety.

 

She is also on five Coalition backbench committees which investigate and promote regional development.

Nola listens on cyber safety proposals

Senior Australians are a very diverse group, especially when it comes to attitudes to computers and the internet.

The Cyber-Safety Committee believes that formulating a balanced message about cybersafety for those aged 55 and above is therefore very important.

Their objective is to find the best ways to get reluctant seniors online safely and to upskill competent users without over emphasising the risks.

“Australia’s economy is in transition, the fourth such significant economic refocusing since we became a nation. We started as an agricultural economy and became a manufacturing based economy and then a service based economy.

We are now in the process of tying our immediate financial future to the mining industry. Nowhere is this more apparent than in my home state of Western Australia, where the iron ore and gas industries lead the nation in activity and, given the level of reserves, also in future potential.
